FAQs
Why do you list lengths in words instead of in pages?
It’s actually for your benefit. If you requested a page of writing, that could result in four to six dense paragraphs or a page of short banter between characters. By listing prices in words, you will get a better idea of the amount of content your story will have.
Why don’t you spend a lot of time describing and explaining the characters? When I read through your commissions, I feel as if the characters are undeveloped.
It’s for the commissioner’s sake. I don’t think commissioners want to re-read their characters’ backstories with every order, so I assume my target audience (i.e. the commissioner) already knows the characters backstories. I generally only get the opportunity to develop characters if the commissioner specifically requests it.
It seems silly for a commissioner to request 800 words and 600 words of that is backstory they already know. So for their benefit, I assume they already know what’s going on.
So you really like ending stories on cliffhangers, is this to get us to order more?
Ahahaha, no. I actually prefer open-endings, but it’s not so that you’ll order more from me. I know my commissioner plays a big part in the creation of the story, and by giving it an open-ending, it gives them the freedom to come up with their own ending while the story itself is still concluded. In your order, you can be specific as to the ending you want, and generally I don’t give cliffhanger endings without running it by the commissioner first.
I’ve noticed in some of your commissions you kill off characters. Do you do this without first asking the commissioner?
It depends on the commission. I generally don’t kill off characters in any normal commission unless the commissioner specifically requests it. In Alternate Universe commissions (such as some of the ones in the list of themes), I may kill off characters. I usually do this based on what the commissioner requests or if I sense that the commissioner would get a kick out of it. So far I’ve never been wrong, but if you’re the first, don’t worry, I’ll change the ending for you.
Do you do any freebies?
No, sorry!
