James Lovejoy sat in the interrogation room. His handcuffed wrists were hooked to the table by the chain between the cuffs. He lowered his head to run his hands through his black hair, smoothing it away from his forehead. He glanced at the four walls around him. They looked like concrete, and he didn’t see a two-way mirror. He did, however, see a video camera in the corner of the room, and a little red light indicated that it was on. He smiled into it.

He sat at the curb with a cell phone against his ear. “Jesus Christ Harry, where the fuck are you?” he asked. “I can see your car, blocking some poor asshole into his parking spot. You’re going to get a ticket.” Joseph Ellis raised his eyes to see Vic Stevens walking, his hands in his pockets, towards him. “Call me back when you get this,” Joseph said.

The Knight’s brown eyes scanned the path ahead of him as he walked through the swamp. He grew up listening to warnings about the swamp that sprawled between the two kingdoms, and he wasn’t so naïve that he thought they were merely moral lessons for children thinly veiled as fairy tales. He knew things lurked in the swamp, but with his hand placed on the grip of his sword and his years of experience, he felt confident he could face whatever monstrosities lurked through the swamp that wouldn’t let him pass.

Sam stopped at the hotel to grab dinner and then took a shower before walking back to Tony’s place. He left his shoulder holster in the hotel room. While he didn’t feel comfortable without his gun, he didn’t want to give Tony any access to it. He fretted the entire time if Tony had ulterior motives, so he promised himself to ask questions first, screw later. Taking a deep breath, Sam knocked on Tony’s door.

Sam Findley listened to the sound of the shower while he smoothed out his bed sheets. He wasn’t sure what to do with himself while Adrian was in the shower, but he noticed Adrian’s grey eReader poking out a pocket of his black suitcase. So he pulled it out and hopped up on the bed while he turned it on.
